Discovering Peace in the Little Things.

Posted by Ashley Alese on

I wanted to talk about something that has been bringing me a lot of joy lately – rituals. As a busy mom with an energetic toddler, my days are always filled with constant movement. However, I've come to realize the importance of finding tranquility in the small moments.

You see, I've developed a habit of jotting down notes and ideas throughout the day. It's my way of capturing thoughts on the fly. But recently, I decided to try something different. One night, while sitting at my kitchen table in complete darkness, I lit a candle and began writing. Journaling has been a creative outlet for me since I was just 10 years old, and it remains my go-to method for relieving stress.

Now, you might be wondering, what made this particular night so special? Well, it was the first time I chose to write in total darkness, with only the soft glow of a candle as my light. There were no distractions, just pure peace. When I finished pouring my thoughts onto paper, I took a deep breath, gently blew out the candle, and felt a release of emotions. It was a truly magical experience.

I highly recommend giving it a try. Take a moment for yourself, find a quiet spot, light a candle, and let your thoughts flow onto the pages of a journal. Allow yourself to be fully present in the moment, embracing the serenity that comes with it.

Sometimes, it's the simplest rituals that bring us the greatest sense of calm and fulfillment. So, why not take a break from the chaos and discover the magic that lies in the little things?

If this is something you'd love to try but are short on time, I'd suggest taking a look at the gratitude journal by Ramona and Ruth. With just a few minutes each day, you can jot down what brings you joy or what you're grateful for.
